Lactulose, a laxative used to treat constipation, is a component in Duphalac Syrup. Constipation is characterized by infrequent bowel movements that are frequently unpleasant, dry, and difficult to pass. By lactulose drawing water into the intestine, the stool becomes softer and easier to pass. It is not taken up by the body. Constipation (frequent bowel movements, hard, dry stools) is treated with it.
